Edmonton, Alberta

Alberta’s capital city Edmonton contains somewhere around 1.35 million folks. Edmonton is known because of its’ river valley park program, the North Saskatchewan River Valley, that has more than 100 kilometres of leisure paths, wild life watching, and town viewpoints. The lake valley additionally has quite a few parks, for example Fort Edmonton Park, Canada's biggest historic park. In the event the outdoors isn't your thing, the city has West Edmonton Mall, the most significant retail complex in the Western Hemisphere! (It was the biggest but I think Dubai is bigger now).

If you would like to go outside, summertime has the maximum chances for stuff to amuse. Edmonton’s got amazing outside festivals and lots of other worldclass entertainment chances. Cold temperatures can be both thrilling, together with snow sports galore. Edmonton's River shore and Mill Creek location have a broad network of paths, advantageous to strolling, biking, along with crosscountry ski. Edmonton has little downhill ski hills in or close to the metropolis. Artificial and real snow cover their own slopes. In the summers I’ve found a few nice tennis courts where you can usually find a friendly game. Running trails are A+ in Edmonton. Once you drop into the river valley you are basically in a forest world without any sense of the city around you.

If you get a chance to go to an Oilers game you have to go! Fans here are LOUD. Easily the loudest in the whole NHL. Its’ a super fun crowd with everyone being friendly and chatty with each other. Tickets are hard to come by though so don’t expect to just rock up and buy some at the door.

You can eat food from just about any country in the world. Edmonton at night is pretty hopping. These days I mostly meet clients at a restaurant or pub but when I went in my 20s it was almost always a fun time. People in Edmonton seem way more outgoing than other parts of Alberta, at least compared to Calgary, Lethbridge, and Red Deer.

West Edmonton Mall is hard to even describe without seeing it. Its’ huge obviously but its not special because of the stores but all of the other stuff. There’s a huge ice rink, animal stuff, waterslide park, hotels, mini putt and so many other things that always keep changing. It’s a must see on your first trip to Edmonton. After you go a few times the novelty wears off a bit unless you have kids I think. For families you could go every single day!!!
