Kenora is one of those places I had never heard of but really came to like a lot. So much so that I tried to schedule my days off in Kenora. The city is the biggest spot between Winnipeg (about 200 kilometres to the west) and Thunder Bay (about 200 kilometres to the east).
There are a lot of reasons why I choose Kenora as a day off spot instead of Winnipeg. Kenora is on the Ontario side of the border and I find things are usually a bit cheaper. Kenora doesn't have traffic. If you stay in Winnipeg then you can get caught in rush hour if you're trying to leave the city in the morning. Most importantly, Kenora is on the water and a great spot for fishing!
In fact, Kenora is very famous for its' fishing. Some people say it has the best lake fishing in the whole world!!!
